The rush of the NX
The NX from Samsung consists of equipment from Samsung such as sensor, lens, image processor, AMOLED screen, battery, and various accessories. Panasonic and Sony have similar products, but I think Samsung has the most powerful resources. Samsung has already made 3 compact interchangeable lens type cameras with 5 different lenses. It’s been about a year since the NX10. The NX10 was just the beginning. I’m anticipating the next models. The world’s first i-Function lens NX100, firmware upgrade for previous users, APS-C, and the upgrade of contrast AF. Samsung is so passionate that no one can deny the great work of Samsung for the NX series.

What about the NX100 in 2010?

As a follow-up to the NX10, the NX100 was launched in September, becoming Samsung’s second mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. With its unique design of a leaf, morning dew, and i-Function lens, the NX100 created buzz in the second half of 2010, gaining as much popularity as the NX10. The product appealed particularly strong to those who value style. The lens offers unique functions that camera manias would only have dreamt of! Its biggest strength is the ability to adjust the features without taking your eyes off the view finder; you can capture every moment of the subject. The lens was also well-received by users of the NX10 as a simple firmware is enough to have it compatible with the NX100.
Continuing on my last posting NX10’s Hot Issues, let’s take a look back at the year for the NX100.
Samsungimaging Blog (http://www.samsungimaging.net/)
The NX10 was first unveiled in Hong Kong in September. With no official information on the NX100until the unveiling ceremony, users as well as the press showed keen interest.
The NX10 in the hands of ‘OK Go,’ a world-famous rock band. The NX100 is at the center of producing the music video for their latest song ‘Last Leaf.’ From the first meeting to the music video production, collaboration of OK Go with NX100was recorded in video.
Commemorating OK Go’s music video where thousands of toasts appear, Samsungimaging’s global campaign site (www.cre8yourworld.com) held an exciting event where you can upload a picture of yourself and make it into a toast!
The next line-up to the new concept, i-Function lens was also revealed. The new lens for 2011 includes a movie pro 18-200mm lens, 16mm wide pancake lens, and the macro 60mm lens that many are waiting for.
One of the biggest benefits of the NX100 is its design. At the PIN UP Design Awards, the NX100received the bronze award for Electronic Devices for its ergonomic design.

The NX100 once again received the spotlight when it collaborated with the musicians OK Go. If you like music, surely you would know ‘OK Go,’ a YouTube indie band. The process of producing ‘Last leaf’ was made into several episodes utilizing the NX100, which you can enjoy on-line. Here is episode 1, the first step to the birth of the ‘Last Leaf’ music video.
Samsungimaging’s Flickr Channel(http://www.flickr.com/photos/samsungzone/)
Samsungzone Flickr Photostream has 209 photos taken with the NX100. You can check out the pictures by clicking here.
The following photos were taken with the NX100 in 2010 and proved especially popular among users.
Samsung NX100 Sample images - 3 Colors
Samsung NX100 │ 1/160s │ f/16.0 │ ISO 100 │ 50mm
This photo portrays a striking balance of three glasses filled with red, yellow, and blue liquid. Also, the dark hand behind the glass in contrast with the three colors helps the picture to maintain balance. Highly praised for its ‘excellent idea’ from users, the picture more than fully portrays color from the Samsung camera.
Samsung NX100 imageloger - Fantasy Valley
Samsung NX100 │ 30s │ f/22.0 │ ISO 100 │ 20mm
This breathtaking picture was taken using the long exposure of the NX100. The flow of the water curbing the valley resembles white clouds. The 20mm lens and 30 seconds shutter speed well illustrates the flow of water. Why don’t you try it yourself at a near-by river or valley?
Samsung NX100 imageloger - Bridge
Samsung NX100 │ 30s │ f/22.0 │ ISO 100 │ 38mm
The NX100 performs excellently even in a very dark environment. This is a picture of a bridge at night with lights on. A low ISO is used to capture as much of the little light as possible for a warm and beautiful picture. You’ll need equipments such as a tripod and a long nose, but with theNX100, you can easily become a professional even in dark settings!

Winners’ Smile at the Imageloger’s Exhibition

Following is a review of Samsung maging Imageloger's Exhibition.
The four best Imagelogers won the prize at the Samsung Imageloger’s Exhibition held at Samsung d’light in Seoul last Saturday. Dae Young Lee ranked first as the best Imageloger among the four, and Tae Young Ahn, Young Dae Han, and Min Tae Moon won the Excellence Award along with him.
We at Samsungimaging asked for a short interview with them and they briefly stated their feelings about having received the award.
[Tae Young Ahn - NX user]
Q: What kind of the camera do you use? How about the Samsung camera?
A: Since the launch of the NX10, I have been highly interested in the mirrorless camera; I’m using it together with the NX5 and the NX100. Frankly, I had a more positive point of view on the Samsung camera after buying it than before while using it. I’m fully expecting the upcoming cameras from Samsung to be just as great now that Samsung is the only manufacturer directly producing the camera in Korea. I’m pleased to have personally experienced the development of Samsung as one of the Imageloger awardees.
Q: Among your own photos displayed on this wall, which one is your favorite?
A: I tried to take a lot of pictures and hand in them on time for this exhibition. The reason why I picked this picture is because I thought my picture had to bring a lot of joy. This place is located at Wooeumdo in Hwasung where it’s popular among photographers. I looked at my shadow on the sandy beach and I would have loved to have fun with my shadow and shells. This is why I took this shadowy self-portrait. Many viewers liked this, as do I.
Q: How many photos are displayed here?
A: There are three photos that are mine.
Q: What is your New Year’s resolution as an Imageloger?
A: I’m going to enjoy my life constantly using photography in the New Year. If Samsung releases its brand new camera, I’ll try to take high quality photos with that camera. Thank you!
[Young Dae Han – NX10 user / Min Tae Moon - E10 user]
The other winner, Mr. Moon, who is using the HMX E10 was praised about his individual camerawork recorded by the camera installed on the small ship. We asked him about why he recorded his video that way and he said, “I wanted to express the feeling of taking a boat or a car.” Mr. Han looked like he couldn’t hide his delightful feeling of winning the award. He hopes that Samsung doesn’t settle for status; rather, Samsung should strengthen its position in the international camera market.
Ten people from China came to the exhibition in order to celebrate this event together and we asked two of them about visiting Seoul again. One of them, Ms. Yao Yao, who uses the EX1 and the NX100, praised the Samsung camera for its awesome design, portable form, and high resolution. The people who participated in this event closely watched the photos displayed.
[Niuyulong – NX user]
Q: When did you arrive here? How many times have you visited Korea?
A: Even if this is the second time I visited here, I’m still excited! I am especially happy to have come to here together with the newly added Imagelogers!
Q: What kind of the camera do you use? What object do you prefer?
A: I’m using the NX10 and the NX100 now. I like to take pictures of everything in my daily life. Thanks to the portable Samsung camera, I think it’s a really good camera because I can take photos at any time.
Q: You continue this activity in the next year! What’s your New Year’s resolution?
A: I’m going to recommend my friends to do this activity as the Samsung Imageloger. I’ll try to take better photographs. Thank you!

The NX100 hit the digital camera market with force. It got attention from a lot of people for it’s great quality and mobility. It has the APS-C sensor, as well as interchangeable lenses.
Samsung’s NX100 ambitiously follows the NX10. It isn’t just a follow up of the NX10 but also a new line of it’s own. With better quality and a Fast AF this is a camera to tangle with.
Let’s take a closer look at the design, functions, performance, and quality
